The Greek Revival style residence was dominant in American architecture from about 1830-1850. This notable home is one of the most visually important structures in the hamlet. At one time it was the residence of Alexander Williams who, in 1835, established a blacksmith and wagon making shop near this residence.  The early settlement of the town and the major wagon manufacturing was located at this site for over half a century.
