Built by Dr. Charles Walker, this late nineteenth century house with contributing barn meets Criterion C in the area of architecture as an intact example of the Queen Anne style within the historic village of West Henrietta.

Beginning in the early 1800s people began to settle at the crossroads of West Henrietta and Erie Station Roads building houses, a tavern and hotel, churches, and stores serving the surrounding farms. According to former Henrietta Town Historian Eleanor C. Kalsbeck, Dr. Walker built his house at 5628 West Henrietta Road in 1882. He was one of the first doctors to settle in the village. His residence had the first telephone line in the area connecting with the general store across the street (Kalsbeck).

The two-and-one-half-story frame house has a stone foundation, wood clapboard walls, and a steeply pitched hipped roof with lower cross gables. This Queen Anne house retains a high degree of design, materials, and craftsmanship. The full-width front porch which wraps around to the south elevation has classical porch columns, a spindled balustrade, and lattice woodwork in the front porch gable. Windows appear to be the original one-over-one double-hung wood sash. The gable ends at the upper floor have paired windows and decorative fishscale shingles. An oriel widow with large scroll brackets projects from the north elevation. The project cross-gabled section at the south elevation has chamfered corners. A contributing front-gabled frame barn is located southeast of the house. The west façade of the barn retains the slide barn door but a modern overhead garage door has been inserted into the opening. A small oculus window is in the gable end. The barn has a lower rear wing gabled addition. Kathy Howe 04/05/2016
